Emmanuel Episcopal Church
203 S. Kensington Ave., La Grange, IL

Our annual Masterworks concert celebrates the sublime, and this season is no different – with one major exception. In keeping with our mission to collaborate whenever possible, this season’s concert features a truly special collaboration with the Symphony of Oak Park & River Forest (SOPRF). In addition to an April 28 Orchestra Hall performance of Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy” with Tower Chorale Music Director Patrick Godon as pianist, our final concert this season features “Missa Solemnis” – “Solemn Mass” – by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt (1811 – 1886). Written for the 1856 consecration of Hungary’s largest church, the Basilica of Ezstergom, the mass represents Liszt’s desire to “unite on a colossal scale the theater and the church.”
