Songs of America — Then and Now

  • Saturday, May 16 – 3:00 PM
  • Sunday, May 17 – 3:00 PM
  • St John’s Lutheran Church, La Grange

Our season concludes with Folkfest, a vibrant celebration of the songs that have helped shape the American musical landscape as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary. Drawing on the spirit of the folk revival and the storytelling traditions that run through American music, the program features choral arrangements of iconic songs such as “This Land Is Your Land”, “Blowin’ in the Wind”, “Where Have All the Flowers Gone”, “Big Yellow Taxi”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, and “Turn! Turn! Turn!”—along with a tribute to the songs of John Denver and a lively choral medley from West Side Story. With melodies that speak of hope, reflection, and community, Folkfest offers a warm and uplifting close to the season.
