OUR MUSIC DIRECTOR
Patrick Godon became the Tower Chorale’s Music Director on July 1, 2011. Patrick made our 26th year a rousing success. He posted another successful season in year 27! See tour comment below.
Mr. Godon has held many top level posts in music. Since 2003, he has been Director of Music at St. Gregory the Great Church in Chicago and continues in that post. In 2006, he founded International Chamber Artists (ICA), a chamber music ensemble of classically trained musicians. He has also performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) as second keyboardist and has done piano solo work for them. Patrick holds the degree of Master of Music in Piano Performance from DePaul University.
To reprise a choral tour of Italy he made in a recent year, Mr. Godon assembled a volunteer chorus from Tower Chorale, St. Gregory the Great church choir, and ICA (International Chamber Artists). This group was nicknamed “The Chicago Chorus” by some of the churches which invited the group to sing in their various cities in Italy this past March. By happy coincidence, their performance in The Vatican coincided with the gathering of Catholic church officials assembled to elect their new Pope.
HISTORY OF TOWER CHORALE
The Tower Chorale is a 90-voice community chorus comprised of amateur and professional singers, including former members of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Grant Park Symphony Chorus, Light Opera Works, Chicago Opera Theater and various community theater and music organizations. Many church choirs are represented. Known for musical diversity, this non-profit organization has been one of the premier music groups in Chicago’s western suburbs since 1986.
After a decade of successful performances The Tower Chorale became an independent organization. We are incorporated in the state of Illinois as a not-for-profit corporation and hold a tax exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.
The purpose of The Tower Chorale is to offer the opportunity for choral musical enjoyment and growth, in an environment of fellowship, by means of a variety of secular and sacred musical experiences, providing an entertainment resource for the community and satisfaction for the performers.
Our seasons consist of three concerts per year; December, March and May. Music ranges from the classics of past centuries (Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.) to much more modern and ethnic pieces. Sung by up to 100 voices plus orchestra or ensembles of brass, tympani and organ, the performances have led Tower Chorale to become recognized as the premier vocal musical group in Chicago’s western suburbs. Recent seasons extended our reach for audiences into churches on the north side of Chicago. For more information please click on the link: History of the Tower Chorale
