Dusk 'til Dawn
Date: Nov 10, 2019
3:00 P.M. - First Presbyterian Church of La Grange, 150 S. Ashland Avenue
This concert will feature the Grammy winning piece "Calling All Dawns" by Christopher Tin which features 12 songs divided into three movements: day, night, and dawn (corresponding to life, death, and rebirth).
Many of the lyrics find their sources in important pieces of world literature, including excerpts of long works such as the Torah, the Bhagavad Gita, and The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam in addition to smaller verses such as The Lord's Prayer, Maori proverbs, and Japanese haiku. This piece also features a similarly diverse set of vocal traditions, including opera, Irish keening, and African choral music.
The first half of our program features music of Daniel Elder, as well as a lovely arrangement of “Bright Morning Stars” and John Rutter’s fun setting of “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
All tickets are General Admission and will be available on-site at Will Call. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time.
